How I work – handwoven textile art – the process

Inspirations

I work based on inspirations, but I consider them only as a starting point that I interpret with my own artistic vision, that is, I do not make a color reproduction on the cloth 1:1. For this reason I do not offer full-customs.

Your idea

It is difficult to reproduce exact idea of a client, and I have my own style and vision. I see myself as a textile artist who works best when she has artistic freedom, and that is why I prefer a free form when weaving.

Your decision

You decide on the fibers, the length, the type of fringes (if any) and details (leno laces, inlays, soumak...). Depending on the project, you may request a specific weave and want additional details.

Creation

Placement of the weave, placement of the inlays, how the weft is dyed and/or pooled, how the warp is dyed, the exact shades, placement of the color block, etc. are areas where I retain creative freedom as a weaver and artist.

Dyeing

Dyeing itself is a chemical process and some things cannot be predicted. Yarns react differently. I always do color samples, but even then, unfortunately, everything can't be predicted.

Colour presentation

After dyeing I send you pictures of the painted warp.
The photos are always taken without filters, to the best of my layman's skills as a photographer, in different lighting.

Weaving

The next step will be beaming and threading the warp. Here I ask you to be patient, as this is an activity requires a looooot of time because it is necessary to put each thread separately through a separate small hole. As soon as this stage is ready, the weaving can begin.
